The Tennessean Golf Club was designed by Keith Foster, designer of nationally ranked top golf courses including The Quarry in San Antonio, Texas and SunRidge Canyon in Fountain Hill, Arizona. Mr. Foster's designs preserve the grand tradition of the game and carefully blend with the landscape to create a golf course that is challenging – and fun to play and a joy to experience

Keith grew up in Florida where he played competitive golf and while attending college, was a Maintenance Superintendent for 4 years. In '81 he joined Wadsworth Golf Construction as a Construction Project Manager. During his 5 years with Wadsworth, he was involved in 8 golf course projects throughout the Southeast, among them the green renovation work at Augusta National.
In '86, Keith became part of the national design firm of Arthur Hills and Associates. While with the design firm (5 years), he contributed and was involved in 15 golf courses including Bighorn (hosted Skins Game '92 - '95), Harbour Pointe (Golf Digest's '91 top public course in Country) and Walking Stick (ranked among the top 10 municipal courses in Country).
Keith established his own design firm in '91 and has since opened 10 exceptional courses including such nationally acclaimed courses as The Quarry (#28 in Golf Digest's top 75 upscale courses in Country and ranked in 1996 and 1997 as the top public course in Texas) and SunRidge Canyon (#42 in Golf Magazine's top 100 public courses and ranked as the top public course in Arizona). In 1999, Gateway National in Metro St. Louis and The Tradition Course in Houston were rated the top public courses in their regions.
1999 was a big year for Keith, with 3 new courses opening to wide acclaim, Anthem Country Club in Las Vegas, Shepherd's Crook in Chicago and The Tennessean. The excitement of '99 was also due to 3 commissions that were completed. The renovation of historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas as well as the restoration of Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, site of the 2001 Men's U.S. Open. And lastly, The Harvester in Iowa, a new upscale daily fee golf course, which Keith feels is his best work to date.
In 2000, Keith will be working on 3 exciting commissions, the Hyatt Resort Course in Maryland, an upscale daily fee course in Utah and the restoration of historic St. Louis Country Club (a 1912 MacDonald course).
Keith Foster is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects.
